Day 23 - Lunch with nephew Joe and old acquaintances

Monday we left Randy and Sue, we enjoyed our stay with them the last 5 nights and they were great hosts.  We set off north towards Dallas, it rained much of the drive, but nothing too heavy.

Since nephew Joe was unable to get down to see us due to work, we met him for lunch close to his work place. It was great to see him and catch up. He is working extremely hard and taking 3 masters classes at the same time, he is one busy man.

After having a good lunch with Joe in Plano, we moved across town to drop in on our friends John and Kyle. John and I worked together at IBM in the late 80's and have met up at Sturgis in 2014 and 2015, it has been a while since we got together.

We arrived a bit after 3PM, it was spitting rain, we needed to stretch or legs so John and Kyle gave us a walking tour of the neighborhood. They live in a very nice community and their children and grand children live conveniently close by.

We had planned to go out to dinner but Texas was under a tornado watch and we were in the path for a period of time.  We watched it approach from the west by looking out the window and on the TV, we were in the polygon for a period of time. We only got heavy wind/rain and a little hail, but we decided to stay put.

Kyle made a fantastic dinner and we enjoyed catching up for the evening. I was unaware that John is a bartender at heart and I enjoyed watching him work.  I had a simple bourbon on ice, but one that I have never tried 'Garrison Brothers', it was quite good.

John and Kyle are great hosts and we enjoyed catching up with them. Tuesday we plan to move farther north and stop and check out Hot Springs National Park

  2. I am glad Joe could join us for lunch, we missed him over the weekend. We hadn’t seen John in a few years and had never spent any time with Kyle; it was good to see them. We thought we were eating out but the storm kept us at home. Kyle is an amazing cook, especially on short notice.
