Day 24 - Farther north, moving to Hot Springs National Park

Tuesday we had coffee with John and Kyle and said our goodbyes, it was great seeing them and we appreciated their hospitality for us nomads.

We headed north towards the Hot Springs National Park. The routing of google maps to Arkansas would take us right through Dallas, that just seemed wrong on a Tuesday morning.  John suggested we just head north until we hit Rt 380, then take it east until we hit I30 east, and that is what we did.  It was through lots of towns but we never got stopped in traffic, it worked just fine.

As we made our way towards Arkansas, we decided to detour north and drive through a bit of Oklahoma. The section of Oklahoma the we crossed was wide open with few hills and pretty straight roads that seemed to go on forever.

We stopped for Lunch in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, just because I liked the name of the town. We had a good meal at The Oaks Steakhouse.

Eventually the terrain became more and more hilly, by the time we were in Arkansas we had rolling hills. It rained of and on the entire trip. We stopped at an AutoZone to get DEF fluid, I don't recall the last time I added, but it probably has been at least 5000 miles.

We arrived at Hot Springs National Park Campground around 4:30PM, but they were full. Lucky for us there was a KOA only 2.5 miles away that had sites. The operator is from St. Johnsbury, VT.  We had a nice chat and she gave me a 15% discount, just because I am so good looking. Being that it started to rain, we hunkered down for the evening with adult beverages.

Wednesday we plan to get down to the visitor center early and then decide what we want to do.
