Sunday after coffee with Jane we set out for Pensacola to drop in on June's cousin.
The drive to Pensacola is long but pretty easy, at least this time of year. We arrived at cousin Debbie's around 3PM. We got a quick tour of the neighborhood, June in the golf cart with Deb, me on my bicycle. Deb and James live in a nice community on the ocean shore, their neighborhood even has its own marina.
After catching up a bit we went out to dinner at the Oyster Bar Restaurant on Perdido Key. It was very nice and we all had a good meal.
Tomorrow, James and I plan to golf while the girls goof off at the beach.
Monday both Debbie and James had some work to do, imagine that...work, in the morning. June and I took the scooter to the store for groceries. James and I had a 3PM tee time but before that Debbie, June and I went out to lunch at the Sunset Grill, a very nice place right on the shore. We had a very nice lunch.
We returned from lunch in plenty of time for James and I to make it to the Perdido Bay Golf Club for our tee time.
We checked in, hit a small bucket and were paired with a solo golfer from St. Louis named Tyler. After the first hole I said to James, he either has a really bad St. Louis accent or he is slurring his words. The wind was howling which made for some tricky golfing and an unhappy Tyler. He said "This is xxxing Missouri golf, I can do this at home". Tyler was a pretty good golfer, so at first it was hard to tell, but he was smashed. He made it about 7 holes before he gave up, but James and I found it quite entertaining. James said "I have never seen anyone go down hill so fast", it was funny and sad at the same time.
James is a much better ball striker than I, but I had fun, hopefully he did too. I have played twice in Florida on this trip, both with someone else's equipment and balls. I lost at least 6 balls in this round, I have debts to pay when these people come north.
When we returned from Golf June and Debbie had a nice spaghetti dinner waiting for us. They went for a long walk on the beach while we were gone, it was also windy.
We had a great time catching up over dinner and chatted into the evening. Debbie and James are great hosts and we hope we can return the favor someday.
What a nice visit with Debbie and James; we stayed an extra night so Fred and James could golf. Good food and good conversations, catching up on family news. Priceless.
